Kuweni - Couture Concept
Kuweni (කුවේණි) is a couture cocktail dress concept. It is inspired by Saree which is a traditional dress in southern region of Asia, especially India and Sri Lanka. Kuweni was a Queen in Sri Lanka mentioned in the ancient Pali chronicles Mahavamsa and Dipavamsa of the Sinhalese people. I wanted the concept to be very sexy and designed with strong, powerful, and independent woman in mind. I used lots of traditional Sri Lankan patterns, borders & designs as inspirations for the embroideries.
